Artificial Turf

From the soft, natural look of a classic lawn to surfaces designed for play, sport and busy family life, artificial turf can be shaped around the way a garden is truly used — with the right preparation beneath every finish.

Built from the ground up

Artificial turf installed properly, not simply laid on top.

The quality of an artificial lawn depends heavily on what is underneath it. A good-looking surface can quickly fail if the ground moves, drainage is poor or the base has not been compacted correctly.

We excavate to the required depth, deal with levels and falls, install a suitable sub-base and compacted laying course, and build drainage into the preparation where the site needs it.

Edges are fixed securely so the turf remains tight and clean around paving, planting beds, steps and garden structures. Joints are planned to minimise visibility and the pile direction is considered before cutting.

The finish itself is chosen with the life of the space in mind. We offer high-quality classic artificial grass for a soft, natural garden feel, alongside specialist artificial surfaces for children’s play areas and sporting spaces, including cricket. A quiet family lawn and a surface made for repeated play ask very different things of the material beneath your feet.

Where pets are part of the household, the specification becomes even more important. A suitable permeable turf, carefully designed base and free-moving drainage help liquids pass through rather than linger below the surface — keeping the garden fresher and reducing the risk of unwanted odours over time.

The build-up matters

The green surface may be what catches the eye, but the best result comes from matching the whole system to the way the space will live — from relaxed gardens and children’s play to pets and specialist sporting use.

01

Ground preparation

Existing lawn and unsuitable material are removed before levels are formed and a stable compacted base is installed.

02

Drainage & base

Falls, permeable materials and drainage are considered so water can move away rather than sitting beneath the finished turf.

03

Cutting & finishing

Turf is positioned, cut and joined carefully, then fixed to strong edges and brushed so the final surface looks consistent and clean.

FAQ

Common questions

Does artificial turf need drainage?+

Yes. The turf itself is permeable, but water still needs somewhere to go. We assess the existing ground, levels and drainage and build the base accordingly.

Can you install it over an existing lawn?+

Not directly. The existing turf and soft topsoil normally need to be removed so a firm, correctly compacted and free-draining base can be built.

Is artificial turf suitable for children and pets?+

Yes — but the best surface depends on who will use it. Children’s play areas may benefit from a more resilient specialist system, while gardens regularly used by dogs need a permeable turf and base designed to let liquids drain freely. Getting that specification right from the beginning helps the garden stay cleaner, fresher and more pleasant to use.

Do you install specialist artificial surfaces?+

Yes. Alongside premium classic artificial grass, we can create specialist artificial surfaces for children’s play areas and a range of sporting uses, including cricket. The surface, base and detailing are selected around the demands of the space rather than treating every project as the same kind of lawn.

How much maintenance does it need?+

Much less than a natural lawn, but it is not completely maintenance-free. Leaves and debris should be removed, the pile brushed periodically and edges kept clear.
